Dear Milroy Families,
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work and plan for students during this period of planning March 18th through March 27th. We are determined to make this the very best possible distance learning experience for your child. We want to be prepared to begin distance learning on Monday, March 30th. We are waiting for the Governor's next Executive Order to be issued that will give us direction beyond the planning period that ends on Friday.
We want to let you know what to expect in distance learning from MPS. We plan to utilize the learning platforms of SeeSaw (PreK-2), Google Classroom (3rd-6th) as well as the video conferencing of Zoom and Google Meet. In addition to the technology platforms, we will also have paper/pencil activities for your child. Busses will have weekly drop offs of additional paper activities on Fridays.
In our planning, we are taking into account that each family has a unique schedule at home. For this reason, we plan to provide flexibility for students as to when they can complete their school work each day. Each teacher will have established office hours that they will be available to help students with work and free to answer questions. Teachers will be communicating these hours to students. Teachers may send out a sample schedule for you to follow with your child, but we encourage you to find a routine that works for your family.
We are planning for students to be working between 1-3 hours per day depending on their age. Each student will have activities that they must do each day but will also be offered suggestions of activities that they can do if they are looking for more learning activities.
Each student has a learning bin that teachers have prepared and can be picked up this Wednesday, March 25. We will have these ready during Wednesday’s lunch pick up from 10:30-11:00. Even if you are not picking up lunches please stop by between 10:30-2:00 and we will bring the bins out to you. If you are unable to pick up your child’s materials please let us know and we can make other arrangements.. Along with the learning bins we will be sending home materials from your child’s classroom and locker. These materials will be bagged and can return to school with your child if we are able to return.
