Distance Learning During the Pandemic

  • In response to COVID-19 pandemic, Minnesota schools are preparing for distance learning.  Schools are required to close during the time period of March 18 to March 27. These eight days act as the planning period outlined in the Governor's Executive Order.  During this time schools have been tasked with creating a plan for distance learning that could be utilized for an extended period of time. Distance Learning could begin as early as March 30th.

At MPS, staff will utilize SeeSaw for students PreK-2 and Google Classroom for students in grades 3-6.  In addition to these platforms, Zoom and Google Meet will be used for video conferencing. Each child will receive a learning tub, which will house an electronic device and learning materials to use for distance learning. Each child will have daily interactions with their classroom teacher and classroom teachers will work to facilitate student-to-student interactions as well.
